carrion flower

carrion flower

I find any of these creatures in Situ Lembang, Bandung .. in the midst of pine forests that already eradicated the vegetation under it for wanting to make garden coffee.

Anyone know what this is?

I also do not know. May need to be taken to the Herbarium to be identified. But, from its shape like a flower does plasticity (?)..

Know the story of the corpse flower? Carrion flower (Rafflessia spp.) Is the flower of the parasites that live in the root-specific stem liana species whose name Tetrastigma. During the growth period, these parasites are guns showing his form. But once you enter the reproductive phase, he appear new flowers and smells like rotting carcasses.

Why such carcasses? because she needed a certain insects to aid pollination. We usually know khan, insects attracted to the beautiful flowers or fragrant. That is, because that specific insect-evolution commented with flowers like that. Some flowers such as bee orchid cursory plasticity .. he pulled drones to has copulation, thus helping to bring pollen from one flower to another. Other flowers have a bright color as a signal to insects that "I have a nectar that you can take, ya .." Various forms of related interest also with how it performs pollination - in the case of pollination by insects, related to the insect form of interest what he wants drag.

.. Back to the corpse flower because of her attraction to insects are flies that pollinate "likes" with the carcass, then that's the form of flowers.

I'm still not sure if the photo above is of interest. It may also fungi. But, the shape of guns seems like a dead useful for fungi. Ulcers around the black hole, resembling a dead khan. I also see some insects had into the hole.

Tornado weather

Tornado weather phenomenon that is so famous that almost everyone has at least heard of them. A horrible, black lines the road winding down from the sky above the ground, completely indifferent to everything that lives on the street. In fact, a tornado is defined as a rotating column of air extending from severe storms to the ground. With the most violent tornadoes are capable of incredible destruction and the wind speed 250 mph or more, they really are the hardest natural wind. Path of a tornado can damage more than a mile wide and 50 miles long. There is a tornado with wind speeds of up to 300 miles per hour! Fortunately, high speed is very rare, occurring only 2% of tornadoes. A phenomenon similar to a tornado is a funnel cloud, which is not only a tornado touching down. When tornadoes occur over water, the extraordinary power of the draft up through the cyclone center cause the sucking action (such as a vaccuum), which attracts water to water to create a spout. It can travel over water to dry land, turned into a tornado (see photo at left).

Why Tornado could Happen?

The simplest explanation for what causes a tornado is a fast convection air. A good analogy to explain how the convection of water in a pot on the stove, the water at the bottom of the first selection since it is closer to the heat source, causing the water molecules in the hotter areas of the pan near the bottom to speed. Then they bombard the molecules of other cold water and put it in motion up through the water column. This leads to different water temperatures in the pot to circulate around in (without having to stir with a spoon!).

Giant Salamander

Get to Know Giant Salamanders
The IUCN lists Japanese giant salamanders as near-threatened.
Japanese giant salamanders live in cold mountain streams and rivers on Kyushu Island and western Honshu in Japan.
Japanese giant salamanders and Chinese giant salamanders are the two largest salamanders in the world. Hellbenders (Cryptobranchus alleganiensis) have the largest body mass of all the salamanders in North America.
Mucus covers the bodies of giant salamanders and protects them from abrasions and parasites. When disturbed, the salamanders can also produce a smelly, sticky secretion.
A giant salamander absorbs oxygen through its skin. Loose folds of skin along its sides increase surface area to help it absorb even more oxygen.
Giant salamanders have sensory organs along their bodies and on their heads that can detect other animals in the water around them, which helps them hunt. Sharks have similar organs.
Giant salamanders' broad, flattened bodies are streamlined for swimming at the bottom of fast-moving water.

aye-aye

The aye-aye is found exclusively in Madagascar. Situated to the southeast of Africa and separated from the continent by the 800 km-wide (497 mi) Mozambique Channel, the island of Madagascar is in the Indian Ocean and is the fourth largest island in the world (Swindler 2002). the aye-aye was believed to be extinct as recently as the mid-1900's, it now appears that the species has one of the largest distributions among non-human primates in Madagascar albeit at very low population densities (Sterling 1994a). Thus, the aye-aye range may not represent a continuous population distribution. They are found in the eastern rain forests of Madagascar from as far south as the Andohahela Reserve near the south coast to the northern end of the island at Ankarana Special Reserve (O'Connor et al. 1986; Hawkins et al. 1990). The west coast of Madagascar, long thought to be devoid of the aye-aye, is home to the species as far south as the Bemaraha Nature Reserve (Harcourt & Thornback 1990). The only area of Madagascar where the aye-aye is not found is the southwest of the island

The main threat to the Aye-aye is destrucition of its habitat. It is not known if it can survive in degraded areas; it is suggested that it needs large trees in which to build its nests. In some areas of Madagascar it is killed on sight, as it is regarded as a harbinger of misfortune. It is also reported to be killed when raiding crops.

animal sea pig

animal sea pig
The Sea Pig in name alone sounds like a creature worth checking out. Maybe it’s a gluttonous finned fatbody or some sort of nutty offshoot of a walrus. But it isn’t. It’s a thing that moves around like it just burst out of Wilford Brimley and it feeds by absorbing minerals through its crazy tentacled “mouth”. It sounds like a creature worth checking out but in actually it should be never even known of. Especially considering that when these blubbery sacs of troubling matter are spotted, it is not in groups of one or two.

Scotoplanes, the sea pig, is a marine invertebrate animal. It is a genus of deep-sea holothurian (Class Holothuroidea in the phylum Echinodermata-popularly known as sea cucumbers) in the family Elpidiidae (order Elasiopoda).

Sea pig may refer to:
Scotoplanes, a genus of deep-sea holothurians (sea cucumbers) commonly called Sea pigs
some species of porpoise or dolphin or dugong
in some countries (Germany, Russia, Hungary, Serbia etc.) Guinea pigs are usually referred to as Sea pigs, because they were brought to these countries overseas.

As the name implies, fish from Africa is often found swimming in the circumstances upside down. It is estimated that they do this so they can reach food at the water surface, such as insect eggs. Their body color is also upside down, unlike most fish, their stomachs are much darker than the top of their bodies. This is useful for camouflage against predators above. They are a popular pet fish and may soon be sold in local pet shops.

Researchers who are actually researching the type of food it intends to preserve the sperm whale squid which they catch and then send it to the Smithsonian Museum of Natural History for further investigation.

Giant squid are rarely found intact. Researchers usually only see the remnants of his body in the belly of the animal predators such as sperm whales. It makes findings of this time is very valuable because researchers can study the animals that are more complete.

Giant squid can reach lengths of 12 meters and is usually found in deep sea, such as in the waters of Spain and New Zealand. Previously recorded just once, namely in 1954, a giant squid was found dead floating in the Mississippi Delta, is still around the Gulf of Mexico.

Snow is water

Snow is water that falls from clouds that have frozen into a solid and like the rain. Snow consists of particles of water vapor which then cools the air above (see the atmosphere, biosphere, climate, meteorology, weather) falls to earth as a piece soft, white, soft and crystal snowflakes, ferns such as ice crystals, the group of all).

At a certain temperature (called freezing point, 0 ° Celsius, 32 ° Fahrenheit), regular snow melt and disappear. Process when snow / ice turns directly into water vapor without melting it first called subliming. Opposite process is called deposition.

When the snow freezes, often a small fraction of so-called "snowflake". Snow is a prerequisite for winter sport activities like skiing and sled).

In the world, snow is common in subtropical and temperate countries are. However, there is also a snowy tropical regions, namely in Jayawijaya and Barisan Sudirman Mountains in Papua, Indonesia.

Small animal like a caterpillar is one of the greatest living creature that ever existed. They can live almost anywhere, ranging from hot springs to polar regions. Amazingly, they can get into cryonic state (state of very low temperature) which makes them almost entirely immune from environmental damage. They can survive in temperatures over 150 degrees Celsius and even close to absolute zero temperature. They can withstand great pressure, radiation and even a vacuum. Most commonly found on mosses and other damp places.

Anak Krakatau

Anak Krakatau is perilously perched on the flank of the 1883 caldera. It is possible that the main threat posed by Anak Krakatau at the present time could be the generation of tsumanis by failure of parts of the SW flank. It is suggested that a small such failure caused the 2m high tsunami experienced on Rakata during the night of 19-20 october 1981, when Krakatau once again started a new eruption sequence (Camus et al., 1987. J. Volc. Geotherm. Res. 33, p.299-316). No collapse scar was noted so the event was presumably entirely submarine. For discussion of the generation of tsunamis by partial flank collapses, the reader is also referred to the sections on Stromboli and Augustine volcanoes. Much of the base of Anak must rest on a sloping layer of loose pyroclastic material from the 1883 eruption. Nevertheless, the SW flank is today supported by the flat bottom of the 1883 depression. Hence, a large-scale collapse seems unlikely.
It should be mentioned that the islands of the Krakatau complex and particularly Anak Krakatau have provided a model system for numerous studies on the reintroduction of plant and animal life into an initially more or less "biologically sterile" environment. These studies will however not be discussed here.
During eruptive phases, tourists are usually supposed to stay at a distance of 3km from the active cone and landings on Anak Krakatau are prohibited. These rules do not however appear to be strictly adhered to. Visitors should be aware of the risks associated with the type of activity commonly observed at the volcano as are illustrated in the photos below.
